We are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to work within the Management Accounts Team, whose role will be to produce accurate accounts, in line with business procedures and statutory requirements.

Role Accountabilities

* Prepare statutory and non-statutory accounts. This will include manual preparation of accounts and supporting tax computations for customers requiring year end and cessation accounts.
* Ensuring the submission of statutory information to Companies House and HMRC within the required deadlines.
* Prepare Self-Assessment Tax Returns and ensure submission of these returns prior to the deadline.
* Manage and analyse large volumes of information and data to ensure controls are in place and working effectively.
* Assist in the preparation of quarterly VAT returns.
* Managing workloads to ensure Service Level Agreements are achieved.
* Undertake ad-hoc clean-up or other projects, meeting targets set at the start of the project.
* Undertake projects to support the year end activity.
* Any other duties that are deemed necessary to support the business as and when required.
* Suggest process improvements necessary to the role.

Role Relationships

* The Customer Management Accounts Assistant will report to the Customer Management Accounts Team Leader.
* Although it is recognised that the role holder will at times be required to communicate directly with the customer in order to meet deadlines, wherever possible contact should be made via the Customer Services Team.
* It is also recognised that the role holder will have daily interactions with agencies, clients and internal staff.

Personal Profile

* Educated to at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English. AAT qualified with preference given to candidates who have, or are studying towards their ACCA qualification.
* Working or have worked for an accountancy practice with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience
* Have sound knowledge and experience in the preparation and submission of Self-Assessment Tax Returns.
* Should be able to work on own initiative and also as part of a team.

Our client, a pan European pharmaceutical company, now has an opportunity for a part-time (4 days per week) Assistant Financial Controller to be responsible for all aspects of accounting, reporting, budgeting and forecasting for the UK parent company.

You will manage the UK Group cash requirements and you will calculate the UK Group’s corporation tax payments, coordinate tax analysis and queries as well as assisting with the preparation of quarterly and annual tax reporting requirements.

You will also be responsible for creating and implementing a new internal audit function across the UK Group’s financial systems, carrying out regular audits. From time to time you will provide support to other Group departments, preparing financial models and information as requested.

A fully qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / ACMA or equivalent); you must be able to demonstrate practical management accounting ability along with practical audit experience. Ideally you will have financial modelling and forecasting experience with solid Microsoft Excel skills. Commercially aware, you will be expected to keep up to date with accounting standards (UK GAAP and IFRS).

This position will require you to coordinate with various Group Finance teams across the business so you will have excellent interpersonal skills and must be able to manage your own workload. The ideal candidate will have a flexible approach and be able to cope well with new projects and changing deadlines as they arise.

This is a part time role, working an average 4 days per week, although the core month end working days 1-5 must be worked, therefore some flexibility is required. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are also generally considered to be core days, due to weekly reporting requirements, although some flexibility can be considered dependent upon the needs of the business.
