Based in Winsford, Cheshire, we’re looking for a Legal Assistant to manage the day to day administrative functions of our Legal Department, and to provide support to the Legal team.

You will be joining an experienced team that have been providing expert claims advice for many years. Specialising in numerous fields of civil law ranging from Mis-sold investments or PPI, to personal injury and employment tribunals.

We are looking for an individual who has a career plan and is looking to develop and grow with our company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Producing accurate and well-presented correspondence, legal documentation, contracts, reports and memos.
• Ensuring outgoing post meets all deadlines.
• Scanning, photocopying and faxing.
• Maintaining files, including closing and archiving.
• Maintaining spreadsheets.
• Preparation of cheque requests.
• Contribute towards departmental objectives and projects as required.

Job Requirements
Ideally you’ll need to be:
• Must have some form of legal qualification OR be studying towards this.
• Well organised and a good communicator
• Computer literate i.e. Microsoft Office and Internet usage
• Able to work using your own initiative and without supervision
• Able to work to deadlines and demonstrate attention to detail
• Some legal experience would be advantageous, although is not essential.

Purpose and Objectives: The post holder is responsible for the coordination, development and delivery of a funded learning project in Manchester City Centre.

The Project: PLES (Public Legal Education Syndicates) Manchester aims to deliver courtroom workshops to 1250 pupils (50 Primary and Secondary School sessions) in city centre courtrooms before the end of July 2014. The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering school visits to the Civil Justice Centre and other courtrooms in the city. They will be responsible for promoting the project to local legal professionals, setting up a steering group and coordinating their presence at the education sessions in courtrooms. Resources and training will be provided by the NCCL.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the delivery of PLES Manchester project according to the aims of the funding
• To recruit 50 schools (1250 pupils) to take part in education sessions in courtrooms
• To deliver education sessions in courtrooms
• To advocate NCCL to Manchester legal professionals, to create a steering group and coordinate engagement of legal professionals in the delivery of the project
• Be a point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the project
• Review the project at regular milestones, create reports within agreed timescales and prepare monitoring reports
• Spend the project funding in line with the budget and financial procedures
• Thoroughly evaluate the project according to NCCL’s evaluation framework and the project outcomes are clearly achieved
• Positively promote NCCL, its core aims and objectives, and activities and projects
• Manage any Freelance staff as required
• Ensure all legal requirements are met and followed including Health and Safety, insurance and child protection
• Any other daily duties which are relevant to the role


PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential
• Degree or teaching qualification
• Project management experience with proven ability of taking the initiative and taking direction from management when appropriate
• Computer literate
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure on a variety of projects at the same time
